In case you haven't heard our next trip will be our annual Mojave Road "adventure through time", December 6,7 & 8th.
This will be a "all welcome" trip which will allow for the ladies and girls to come along.
More details later so for now mark your calenders.
Thanks, Fred Explorer 1

OK, we’re about 30 days out from the annual Mojave Trail trip December 6,7 & 8th.
The plan is to leave very early Friday morning make out way out to the Colorado river and then start heading back on the trail stopping Friday night at our favorite spot in Carruther’s Canyon.
Saturday we’ll then head out following the trail to Shaw Pass for the night and our evening light show (those who have gone before know of what I speak of).
Sunday we’ll finish up by driving through Afton Canyon ( the grand Canyon of the Mojave Desert), maybe a visit to Spooky Canyon and then head home in the afternoon.
Since this is our annual trip where we are allowing ladies of all ages to come along, several have indicated an interest in coming.
Here is the problem we need to address before we can decide how many vehicles can come.
Because part of the Mojave Road/Trail passes through the Mojave Preserve The “FEDS” have certain regulations on not allowing traveling group of more than 6 vehicles without a fee and a bunch of paperwork. SO we have to travel in smaller groups of 6 vehicles or less. In order to do this we need trail leaders for each group. To qualify as a trail leader you must have experience of driving the Mojave Road before and a 2 meter ham radio. You must also have a copy of the trail guide book so you can explain where we are and be sure you stay on the trail and not get lost on one of the side roads.
As of now, I leading one group leaving early Friday morning, this means I can take 5 other vehicles with me. If we have no other leaders, sorry that will be all the vehicle we can take and it will be on a first come (sign-up) first serve basis.
Many of you have already driven the Mojave trail before and it’s because others have lead you, perhaps it’s time for you to come forward so others can come and enjoy this historical trail for the first time.
Let me know, thanks,

Fred, I'll be coming with Daniel and probably Shane. If needed, I would take a shot at leading. Did I say that?? With Daniel along riding shotgun, he can follow in the Guide as we go. Or I can if he is driving. Regards, Neil

OK, let's get serious about this trip!!!!!! We have three individuals who are willing to lead. While we will all camp at the same locations we will travel on the Mojave Road as three groups. I will be leading on and can take 5 vehicles following: Neil Webster will also be leading and he needs to decide how many he wants to following him. (maximum 5) Randy Gomez sad he can also lead and he too needs to decide how many he will have follow him. (maximum 5) I need one person with a 2 meter radio to be my "caboose" who I can converse with and keep me posted with how my group is doing. I would recommend that Neil and Randy do likewise. While we're traveling the road the three groups shouldn't be too far apart, however there need to keep at least a mile distance from each other. Our first night will be in Caruthers canyon and I have permission from the land owner (Dave Taylor, no relation) to stay on his property. I told him I'd bring a couple of boxes of Eucalyptus fire wood to leave for him at the camp spot; I may need someone to carry this). Night two will be at Shaw pass, just before we descend into the Mojave river floodplain and Afton Canyon. Carry everything you need to live for the two and 1/2 days, including water. Remember to travel light and much of what you bring you could do without! Night could be cold, we could even get some snow in Caruthers Canyon........but if we do the beauty is worth it! For those interested, we will do some shooting at Shaw Pass. My group will leave at 5 am Friday from my house. The other group leaders need to decided where and when they will leave. For those coming up Friday night you need to get yourself attached to a group unless you're planning on being your own group while traveling on the road. Meals: - My group Friday - Breakfast at a restaurant in route Lunch - Somewhere on the early part of the Mojave Trail Dinner - Around the fire ring, Caruthers Canyon Saturday, Breakfast at Caruthers canyon Lunch - on the trail Dinner - Shaw Pass Sunday Breakfast - Shaw Pass Lunch - on the trail somewhere in Afton Canyon Dinner - possible In & Out Burger, Barstow Lynwood exit of I-15. Sign -up are first come - First serve. Let's see who is really going………………………..
