If there is a "once in a lifetime" kind of trip, this may be the one. We explore and travel through one of the most remote areas of the United States. We'll camp on the edge of the Grand Canyon with views few people enjoy. We'll travel through high desert and Pine tree covered mountains. All vehicles need to be in excellent running conditions and be able to carry extra gas. We'll have a information meeting for those interested in going. Probably some time in January. Let me know your interest. Thanks, Fred Explorer 1

Jason's spring break is the following week, and I need to figure out the extra gas situation, but I put it on my calendar. If the stars align, I may be able to go.

This is a trip I will take even if no one else can come. I will make the final decision which route I will take based on who is coming. Thanks, Fred Explorer 1

Fred,
Do you recall how much extra gas you required for your JK on the last trip?
Thanks, Jim

Fred, Do you recall how much extra gas you required for your JK on the last trip? Thanks, Jim Each trip is unique, as we haven't gone enough times for me to have it all figured out. While the gas at Bar 10 ranch is rather expensive, it still provides a source we can rely on if things get too thirsty. A minimum would be 20- 30 extra gallons in past trips. I will be sketching out where I would like to go this trip, and posting it for those interested. Hopefully soon. We usually don't have any problem with gas containers available, it becomes more a challenge where to put them, as you remember on the trip we went on. It's also important to have them stored in reliable containers, again if you recall, we had I think a couple of the containers leak the first day out. I do have an extra large aluminum roof rack I could loan out. It's set up with roof drip rails connectors. They could be removed and it could be installed in just about any vehicle that has the base foots for a rack. Thanks, Fred Explorer 1 P.s. Its the one you see on my XJ in one of the above pictures.

Fred,
I have child care covered now, but my biggest hurdle is the required fuel we have to carry. I'm looking at a few different options right now, but none of them are cheap. We'll have to see what I can come up with.

Here is (very) brief idea of what trail and/or area I want to travel on this trip.
1. Little Finland ( Nevada Strip side) 2. Savantic Mine Trail up 3. Twin Point 4. Grand Gulch Mine trail down 5. Hidden Valley trail up 6. Mollys nipple point 7. Whitmore Point and Valley
That's it for now, more later.
Thanks, Fred Explorer 1

Betterlookintwin is in. I have six 5-gal gas containers and two 5-gal water containers, I'll carry 4 and 1, someone can borrow and carry the others if you let me know so I will bring them and hand them off at some point. Fred: any places we haven't gone that we could visit in the AZ strip?

It requires minimal material. I’ll send you a text.
