Last Chance Canyon & the more difficult Freeway Loop trail have been favorites in the past. This trip includes camping in the Southern Sierra's and trails in the higher desert around Red Rock Canyon State Park. We will leave early Saturday morning April 21st and travel out to Jawbone Canyon off of Highway 14. We will travel up to the Southern Sierra's on a moderate trail through some very pretty country. Depending on the timing, through some great wild flower blooms. Up into the Southern tip of the Sierra Nevada's to our campsite in the pine trees. We'll set up camp and then make our way over toward Lake Isabella to where the more difficult Freeway Loop trail is. Anyone not comfortable with this trail can either say in camp or travel as a passenger in one of the other vehicles. After the Freeway loop we will return to our campsite for the evening. Sunday will bring a big breakfast and then we'll pack up and head over to Last Chance Canyon, which happens to be the very first trail I ever drove 4WD on back in 1990. After the canyon we'll head home and should beat most of the Sunday late afternoon traffic heading home. Let me know if you're coming and any questions you may have. This will be a guys only trip. I hope to be able to come. I may bring a friend with one of the cool new super wazoo Chevy Colorado trucks if he's free.
I did Pilot Rock Trail and Miller Canyon on Friday, it was beautiful up there.

OK we're less than two weeks away.
Here is who I know is planing on coming:
1. Me in the JK
2. Michael Alcorn in his Tacoma
3. Murrie Alcorn in the XJ.
3. Fern want's to if he can get his axles on. That would be in the new and improved ZJ.
Other's have said the want to but that doesn't mean you are coming, so please let me know if you actually plan on coming and what vehicle you will be driving any any passengers.
We will have a very full day on trails Saturday and a full morning on trails Sunday before we head home.
We will leave early Saturday morning from Ralphs (Corner Colima and Whittier Blvd.) drive through a fast breakfast on the way. TRavel up to our camping spot in the Southern Sierra's, set camp and then be off the the Freeway Ridge trail returning in the early evening to camp. Next morning after a "big Breakfast" we'll head over to do the Last Canyon loop before we head home.

Thanks, Fred Explorer 1 It is the new 2018 Chevy Colorado ZR2, but he is not Going to be able to make the trip. He is in the army reserve it has to be that weekend it turned out. However he and I will do pilot rock Trail is for a shakedown trip this Saturday leaving from Trader Joe’s by your house at 8 AM if you’d like to join us and see his truck in action. He’s been in the military for years and so has some good exposure to Offroad but he’s an officer so he doesn’t actually drive much. It will be a shakedown trip for him as much as the track. |

Thanks for the invite, you will note that your friends ZR2 doesn't exactly look like the picture I posted.
Most likely I will be helping others get their rigs fixed and ready for the trip this Saturday.

Matt Dillon in his MJ ( Matt do you have the lockers working?) Their will be some passengers also coming with some of the drivers. If you'd like to come as a passenger, let us know on this forum.
