Final Details:
It will take about 3 hours of driving to get near the campsite in the Southern Sierra's. Well briefly stop in Palmdale for a quick "drive thru" type breakfast and to top off our tanks.
Once we get to our camp site we will off load what can be left there and head over to Lake Isabella taking the faster Kelso Valley road. You should bring with you lunch and any additional fluids you may want to drink. Most of the Freeway loop is exposed to the sun and it can get warm working the trail.
The guide book states that the Freeway loop should take 4 - 5 hours to complete. Once completed, we will again travel the Kelso Valley trail back to the campsite.
I want to arrive back at camp with time to spare to finish setting up camp and enjoying dinner before dark. In order to do this we need to get a very early start. I'm asking for a 4:30 am leaving time from Ralph's at the corner of Whittier Blvd and Colima.
I need at least 4 of you to bring a box of firewood for Saturday evening and Sunday morning.
Sunday's wheeling on Last Chance Canyon is closer to our campsite and we'll have a more leisurely morning.
We'll start home after we complete the Last Chance Canyon Loop, sometime in the early afternoon.
2 meter radios are desired but not required, we'll be monitoring 147.555.
