I'm choosing a long week end for the Anza Borrego trip, either late Jan or some time in February.
Now's the time to give me your input on the dates if you want to come.
Thanks, Fred Explorer 1

FYI, I just checked the Anza Borrego State Park website, it is presently closed until further notice to all camping (including Blair Valley where we usually camp) due to COVID restrictions, it is only open for day use and then in only selected areas. Based on discussions this morning with several of my liver cancer physicians that I support on a research trial, San Diego area hospitals and ICU's are completely full, 60% of all admissions are now COVID related, and there's no let-up anticipated until April at the earliest.
May Day Mike

Fred,
The weekend of Feb. 13, 14, and 15 is Presidents Day along with Valentine's Day. I am up for that weekend. Camping will need to be in BLM land where there are no restrictions I suppose.

Moving my intent and attention to Death Valley instead of Anza Borrego. I don't think many of you have done the trails around there and its been some time since I've been there also. I could make it on the holiday weekend and we done travel to the Oaks instead of home so as to avoid some traffic for me.
I would go out Friday morning Feb 12th and then start heading back on the 15th.
For now I'm thinking of the following trails:
1. Friday night - Geologist Cabin over Golar Pass in Warm Springs Valley 2. Saturday drive past Bad Water (Lowest Point) Then up through Echo canyon and Pas to the east side of the Funeral Mountains to the ghost town of Chloride and camp on Chloride Cliff with great views for the night 3. Sunday - Drive past Leadville and down scenic Titus Canyon then north past Ubehebe Crater and Tea Kettle Junction and the Race Track". Then over Lippencott pass into the Saline Valley. 4. Monday - Exit Saline Valley via South Pass and then down the Panamint Valley toward home.
If your coming let me know.
Thanks, Fred Explorer 1
P.S. There is a possibility of snow in South Pass so we my need to change our exit from Saline Valley route.

Fred is this a male only trip? That's a good question, The Mojave Road is the usual co-ed trip we do every year and in the past the Anza Borrego trip has been co-ed also a couple of times, mainly because we camp at he same spot each year. Let me think on it and I'll let you know. Thanks, Fred Explorer 1

I'm going to leave Thursday afternoon, early enough to beat most the traffic and head out to Trona pinnacles for a quiet, peaceful evening among the stars and memories of the original "Plant of the apes" movie.
