Dates this year are Dec. 6,7 & 8th. Due to the apparent high interest, we will mot likely have to divided into two groups while traveling thorough the preserve. Camp spot are outside the preserve so we can all meet and sped the evening and night at one spot each night. I need to know who is coming, I usually reserve my group for first timers and those beginning to offroad. Let me know if you coming and who you are bringing. Thanks, Fred Explorer 1

I'll be coming. Possibly with some 4x4 experienced people from my church. Just a thought, but we've never been to the Mitchell Caverns. It's now reservation only, two tours, Fri-Sun, 10 and 2. It will take some pre-planning but might be worth a new experience for a lot of us.

Keeping an eye on the weather, looks like we may have a cooler night the first evening out in the New York mountains, there is even a possibility of some snow.
We've had this before and it always adds some excitement to the trip, come prepared and it will be more enjoyable.
I'll keep you posted.
Thanks, Fred Explorer 1

I will likely be joining but still need to figure out details. Any chance you know what the cell service is like out there?

Fred,
I will be coming. Wes also, as we talked today. Bodie said he wanted to come with the project jeep. I told him he needs to talk to you and if he came I would not cancel my insurance and pay for another month that he would need to pay for.

Additional details,
As usual,
1.We will leave from the Ralph's Market, corner of Whittier Blvd and Colima Rd at 5 am sharp, Starbuck is across the street and opens at 4:30 am.
2. We will stop for breakfast at the Denny's Restaurant at the Lynwood exit on I 15. This is where all the Factory Outlet stores located just before Barstow.
3. We will also stop at the Food For Less gas station just before the I-15/40 split (Barstow Rd Hwy 247)
4. We will take I 40 to River rd (Just before Needles) River road North to the AVI Casino exit on the right. This will be our final fuel fill up and opportunity to purchase any last minute items.
5. We will stop at the Colorado River and cover any final instructions.
6. Follow the historic Movie Rd west to the New York mountains where we will stay in our camp spot at approximately 5000-6000 elevation.
7. Weather forecast is improving (depending on your point of view) so we have less change of rain or snow. But be prepared anyway. If you are new and don't know how to prepare ask on this forum and one of the more experienced attenders will help you.
8. Figure two breakfasts ( One being a "Big" breakfast) 3 lunches ( easy to fix and eat on the trail) and 2 dinners.
9. Pack light and travel light, only bring what you need and will use. Set an simple camp so you can break it down quickly in the morning and we van be on our way.
10. We will be monitoring 147.555 on the 2 meter band.
A lot more people have told me at one time or another that they are going but have not indicated such on this forum. Depending on how many vehicles come we may need to break up into 2 groups, it easier for me to plan when I know how many are coming.
Thanks, Fred Explorer 1
