We'll be taking the Mojave road, again, as we have for each of the past 15 years or so.
This year it will be November 30th - December 2nd.
We will again be staying the first night in a special cove in the New York Mountains we used last year. Those who came like it better than Caruther's Canyon.
More later but wanted to get this on the calendar and Forum so you can start planning.
I do need to know if your coming as we will need to divide in smaller groups while traveling in the Peserve.
Thanks, Fred Explorer 1

Thank you Yvonne Noble

Had planned on coming. However, today I found I had a prior engagement on the 1st. Perhaps next year.

Does anyone have room for another rider? I am looking for a ride and would pay for part of the gas.
Thank you

I intend on attending this trip, as long as I can get the body mounts on my truck welded up before the trip.

A few more details on this upcoming trip:
We'll leave Friday morning from the Ralph's parking lot located at the corner of Whittier blvd and Colima rd. 5 am sharp. Show up at 5:05 and we'll already be gone.
We'll be using 147.555 on the 2 meter band.
Plans would be to stop for breakfast at the Denny's located at the Lynwood exit just before Barstow. We will also fuel up at the Food for less store which is at the exit just before the Interstate 15/40 split.
Final stop for fuel will be at the AVI casino just before we start on the Mojave Trail. We will travel west on the Mojave Trail and camp near the Caruthers Canyon exit at a new campsite we used last year. (We have yet to name it )
The second night will be at Shaw Pass.
Each vehicle will be responsible for their own meals and water.
We will do some shooting at the Shaw Pass campsite so if you are so inclined you can bring your guns and targets.
If you are coming I need to know as we will need to organize traveling groups of 6 vehicles each.
This is a great trip to gain some experience over the three days on an easy to moderate trail.
Any questions, let me know,
Thanks, Fred Explorer 1

Murrie is in and Wes, my friend with a new Jeep, also plans on coming with his Dad. Great guys. Possibly two more vehicles will be coming with Wes. They live in Sierra Madre so they most likely will be meeting us in Bartow at the Denny's or Food 4 Less gas station. Denny's at 6:10 and Food 4 Less at 7:00-15.
8 vehicles so far, possibly 9 if bigblue is ready. Wes's two other vehicles are not locks yet but I will contact him Monday and see what he thinks on their possibility.
So each vehicle should bring a "milk crate" worth of wood for the fire(s)?

Murrie Yes, if each vehicle brings at least one crate of "nail-less" fire wood we should be OK, This time of the year we start the fires early as sunset is around 5 pm and it will get cold the first night. If we end up with over 7 vehicles we will break into 2 groups to travel through the Preserve. I'll assess the group, who would like to travel with who and driver ability and experience, once we get to the starting point on the Colorado river. Anyone having a friend in their own vehicle coming along will be responsible for them along the way as to when we leave Ralph's, where we have breakfast and fuel up. Just keep me informed as to your plans on meeting them along the way and progress. I will keep my regular timetable as to when we leave and fuel up, and hopefully we'll all eventually make it to the Friday night camp spot. Thanks, Fred Explorer 1
