Hi Everyone, My name is Gabriel. I recently had the pleasure of meeting some of you at the Thursday night wrenching in Whittier. I am a friend of Julio who is a friend of Roz. Haha. Small world. I currently have a 2000 Jeep TJ sport. I have been putting in some work on it. As much as my wallet allows haha. Besides getting it running mechanically at 100% (i hope) my most recent upgrade was a 3.5 inch MetalCloak lift and 33" tires. Along with the lift I had a longer rear driveshaft and manual disconnecting front sway bars. Little by little its coming along nicely. I finally had a change to put everything that i've upgrade so far to the test this past Sunday in Big Bear. We went out and hit the Gold Mountain trail. The trail was super fun! My TJ performed amazing! I didn't have to get winched over ANY of the obstacles but I definitely see how some lockers would really help. Near the end of the trail after getting through all the gnarly stuff I suddenly heard a noise, then smelled something burning . Long story short, my "rear trac-bar" snapped clean off the axle. Waiting to hear back about the repair. I can't wait till I get back out there. Anyway, thanks for reading my post and I really appreciate everyone's hospitality the day of the Thursday meet. I'll be stopping by and looking forward to doing some wheeling with everyone! P.S. what kind of beer do you guys like? -Gabe

Hey Gabe, I remember you and the Thursday you came by. Sorry about the rear track bar, that is weird, did the actual track bar snap or was it one of the ends or the bracket? One of the other guys in the group with a lifted ZJ had to go through a lot of trouble and me doing two weldings of his axle side track bar brace. I really did a complete job on the second time and since then no additional problems. Some of us are going out this Saturday for some wheeling on the Cleghorn and the "X" trail. Details are listed in this forum: fourwheelfriends.boards.net/thread/914/remimder-trip-saturday-sept-16thGood trail with parts that will allow you to stretch your skill and vehicle. If you need some help on our "fix" let me know and I might be able to carve out some time in my shop to help you. If you have pictures and want to post them but don't know how, let me know and we can get together and I'll show you. Thanks, Fred Explorer 1

I let Fern or some of the other guys respond to which adult beverage they prefer.
I'm ignorant in these kind of matters.
Thanks, Fred

Regarding your trackbar bracket, I have some flat steal and can help you reinforce that bracket with Fred welding. You'll have to do to some prep, but I can guide you as I know what Fred's expectations are for a perfectly prepped welding area. As for beer, I'm one of the very few who enjoys alcohol. Before you go buy anything, let's talk. I'm kind of particular. As for Fred's invitation for this saturday, I suggest you take him up on it. It's a great trail. I'll be sitting this one out with a bad transmission. Welcome again.

I have it at a shop in La Habra right now but I'll definitely have you guys take a look to if whatever work this guy does will hold up. I really hate breaking down mid trail. You feel so helpless lol. I would love to do Cleghorn with you guys this weekend. I have done it once all the way out to SilverLake i think. The ending was super gnarly! And my Jeep was totally stock at the time. But i'm heading to Vegas with my girlfriend tonight for someones birthday. I think I could figure out this picture thing. Let me give it a shot.

welcome!
looks like the track bar relocation bracket did not add extra support to the thing its bolted to and leverage allowed it to tear off the axle. you can probably have the bracket welded back on, but i would add gussets to help with the added leverage from the relocation bracket

boo. i guess i couldn't figure the picture thing lol I saw the pictures. Looks very familiar. I can show you how mine was welded up. Give me a call or text. I recomend you remove your rear axle to be that area and your pieces ready for welding. It happens to me more than once, but once we did the job the right way, I have not had any more problems.

They have all experience levels, and are all knowledgeable in some form, even Carl sometimes lol. But spend some time growing with them and exercising your skill sets. Roz
