Here is a list of things we are planning on doing with "Bob", if you'd like to do or help do and learn how one of these are done, let me know and keep a watch so you'll know when we do it. Part of the purpose of a "project" car is to help other get some hands on experience in repairs and up grades so they can do it them selves with some confidence.
1, Install new fuel regulator (we have it here ready to install) 2. Get it to pass smog, once we get the idle problem fixed. 3. Replace "O" ring on oil filter adapter, then change oil and filter. 4. Thorough cleaning of the engine, transmission and transfer case. 5. Start the process of checking all fluids, diffs, transfer case, trans, brake fluid. 6. Diagnose and fix mushy brake pedal. 7. Remove and replace drivers side front axle shaft. We need to pick up at the junk yard. 8. Purchase and install 3" lift front springs/shocks. and maybe track bar relocate bracket. 9. Rebuild current rear leaf springs with parts from Murrie's old leafs to make a 3" rear lift springs. 10 New shocks on rear axle. 11.Buy new or used in good condition 13x10.50x15 off road tires and off set rims. 12. A good wash and wax of the outside body. 13. After lift installed we may need to install spacers on the cross member support to lower the transfer case. 14. Find new or used transfer case skid plate and install it.
SO how that for starters, I'm sure some other items will come up as we explore and improve this vehicle.
Thanks, Fred Explorer 1
