Some of you on the AZ strip trip may remember the Baboon starting to make a lot of squeeky birdsong noises from underneath somewhere. It only got worse. So, while in Seattle (which is where I park the Baboon) last week I decided to take off my front drive shaft to see if the noise disappeared, which it did. The u joints would barely turn and the double cardan ball was all dry and rusty. So replaced all 3 u joints and the ball (put in a greasable ball). Angry Sparrows problem fixed!

Can believe we never thought of the problem coming from the front drive shaft. Glad it's fixed.

Sounds like you've been Stateside recently. Glad you were able to chase away those noisy birds.
Not too soon for you to start putting in your busy calendar the Moab area trip for late Oct, early December 2017. I might even make this a two week trip as there is so much to do around there. I'd kind of like to include a canoe trip for a few days on the lower Green or maybe some of the Colorado River in this period too.
Let me know what dates work for you as I need to start letting others know so they can plan ahead.
The couple that's has been staying with us from N Africa flew out for there again today.
Thanks, Fred Explorer 1

Dan,
Some of those angry sparrows took up residence in my XJ!!!
Turned out it was the front driveshaft, the center ball joint in the double carden wet dry and started complaining. I went ahead and had a whole new shaft built and told those birds to take a hike.
