We have the 96 XJ and the door locks are not working. I pulled the door panel off and the switch has 12v. I crossed the pins in the plug and nothing happen. A little research online and I found a schematic that shows two relays, one for "lock" and one for "unlock". On the '97 the relays are under the dash near the steering column. Does anyone know where they are for a '96? Are there good technical websites? I seem to only be able to find accessory websites. Thanks, Mark

Carl has a 95 XJ. He has a Haynes manual and may be able to look it up. Would definitely recommend picking one up yourself. Very usefull. Good luck!

I found the relay box stuffed waaaay up under the dash. The relays were not installed. I plugged a couple in and they click but nothing happens at the doors. Next I pull a door panel off and see if the current is getting there. The mystery continues.

Thanks, Mark I have read somewhere a great article which takes you step by step through the process of "refreshing" the solenoids and activators for the electric door locks. The problem seems to be accumulated dust in the system so they eventually completely fail. I think it was in the NAXJA site, you can do a search and see what you find. Here's one: www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1874&highlight=electric+windowsThanks, Fred Explorer 1
