Some of the guys have poked fun at my XJ because so much of it isn't a Jeep XJ any more. Looks like there is one more original part that's saying bye bye. Some of you know that I been having some odd "issues" with my XJ when it comes to climbing something steep. Once in a while in a steep climb it's like someone just shifts my trans into Neutral and all power to the wheel disappears. I've also in the past years found that the trans won't downshift when I move the selector to the 1/2 position. Well with the Rubicon trail coming up I wanted to be sure my trans was working right so off it went to the shop. Some times it would climb fine like this: Other times....failure life this: I dropped by today and the owner Gus called me in and showed me how many bands were (as he put it) "fried". He said it was caused by low pressure. He said it would be better for me to get a re-mfg new trans than him re-building this one so I'm off shopping tomorrow morning. That trans was the last part of the original drive train. I'll let know how it goes.... Thanks, Fred Explorer 1

It was only a matter of time, hope the reman tranny is as good as a factory one. A permanent fix to your problem would involve a 3rd pedal and some rowing of gears

A permanent fix to your problem would involve a 3rd pedal and some rowing of gears For the price I'm paying I hope too. They did say that they make some modifications to the stock tranny based on factory bulletins issued by Chrysler, so I guess I'm getting as good as you can get with not a re-built but re-mfg. one. We'll see. Should be ready for the Rubicon Trail so it will get some test. Thanks and se you Friday morning, Fred Explorer 1
