Where is the challenge in that? Jk. It's been welded quite a bit before so it probably needs a new one. Anyone have one laying around? Also I am back at square one with the jeep. The battery light is back one even after the "new" pcu. Ugh.

I took it to an alternator shop and they said to remove it again. So if anyone is available I am removing it and may even switch with My wife's to see what happens. I'll start tonight and keep working on it over the weekend in the early evenings. Shoot me a pm or fred and Matt have my number. Just a mile south of Fred.

Yeah they guy at the alternator shop suggested that. How much work are we talking about? Would that likely fix it?

I think it'd be pretty easy. It looks like someone on the forums even just bought a voltage regulator and got a plug from the junkyard and wired it up. The only problem is it might throw a check engine light.

Should I bother swapping the alternators?

I think you should probably verify it's not the alternator first. Sorry I can't help wrench bro. Have you hooked up a multimeter to your alternator to see the voltage it's putting out while running? You might also want to check at the battery too to make sure it's not a wiring issue.

Alternator is out. Going to alternator shop to get a real load test. If it's good then it's time for new wires....

Alternator shop said the brushes on the alternator are bad. Going to go get it warrantied. They said it's common on Chrysler alternators to fool the auto store test. Ace alternators in Santa Fe springs took good care of me with no charge!

Good to know that Ace took care of you. Keep us updated on the new "new" alternator.

Pep boys gave me a new one. Though they didn't test because their cable was bad. A shiny alternator has just been installed. No battery light when I let it run. Driving it to work tomorrow with my fingers crossed.
