Whittier to Indio is 2 hours, then Indio to Calcite Mine Road another 57 minutes. With one hour for breakfast in Indio you all should be arriving at Calcite Mine Road between 8:30 and 9:00. It's 56 minutes from Blair Valley Campground to Calcite Mine Road. I will be at Calcite Mine Road by 8:30.

As of this morning it appears that we have 12 vehicles going.
Those not traveling with me Friday morning will need to find our camping spot somewhere on the Blair Valley loop road.
The camping road (dirt) travels around a rocky hill. We are trying to find a spot on the eastern side of the rocky hill so we will get the warmth of the morning sun.
There is limited cell service in Blair Valley and for those (most of you) not traveling with me you will arrive in Blair Valley in the dark. We'll be watching for you but it is very difficult to identify a vehicle only by its head lights, so I would suggest that once you turn off the pavement and travel the loop road, you turn on your emergency flashers. This way those of us looking for your arrival, will be able to identify you and we'll flash our light or something to help you see where we are as you drive in the dark.

Just a reminder to bring a box of good nail free fire wood for the campfires.
Anza Borrego State Park does not allow any ground fires, so I'm bringing up my wash tub and grill for our fires. I also have Fern bringing up my gas fire grill so we have extra space for those wanting to grill some meat over a fire when the grill over the tub is already filled with others food.
If you need wood I have brought up a load of good hard oak already split which is excellent for a tub fire. Let me know if you want to come get some.
