Many have seen the main sights in Death Valley Nation Park.
This trip will take you to the "viewed by few" sites and trails in and around the Park.
Most trails I would rate moderate or on the easy end of the difficult scale.
Here are a few links of past trips, let me know your questions and if your coming.
Thanks, Fred Explorer 1

I’d like to try and make this this trip. I have several projects on the Jeep to complete first.

Fred,
I am in on this trip. I will coordinate with Rudy on meals since he will be joining us from Las Vegas.

Don’t have one yet. Not being sure if it is a male only trip, I wanted to inquire before possibly finding someone who would like a paying rider.

I would be willing. The only reason I wouldn’t be able to is if I can not move the seat up far enough to reach the peddles to drive safely. I can drive a stick shift. I can bring a cushion to sit on and rig something for me to lean on behind my back. (Aka a sleeping bag or jackets etc.)

Some helpful and important information on the 2023 Death Valley Trip;
1. We will leave the Ralph's market at he corner of Colima and Whittier Blvd at 5 am sharp on Friday Feb 10th.
2. We will travel Interstate 15 north to Hwy 395 north to Kramer Junction. (corner of Hwy 395 and Hwy 58) Here we will fuel up and possibly grab a light breakfast. Kramer Junction is 107 miles from Whittier.
3. We should meet up with Rudi traveling from Last Vegas at this spot This will be the lowest price of gas on the trip so you may want to fill up you extra cans of gas at this point.
4. We will continue to travel north on 395 to the Trona road junction near the partial ghost town of Red Mountain. We will travel north to Trona and hwy 178.
5. In Trona we will top off our gas tanks and just north of the town we will exit the pavement and travel over the Slate Mountain range following the Escape Route taken by two families who had been stranded in Death Valley back in 1850.
6. When airing down, consider that on this trip, depending on road closures, occasionally need to travel on pavement for some time.
7. We will take the South Park, Middle Park, Pleasant Valley loop in the Panamint Mountain Range, from here where we go next will depend on trail/road closures in effect in the Park.
8. We will have our customary morning and evening campfires, so if each vehicle brings at least one box of wood, we should be fine.
9. Plan on 3 camp breakfasts, 4 - on the trail lunches and 3 in camp dinners.
10. Only because I do not know which routes will be open, I would recommend that you bring at least 5 gallons of extra gas.
11. We may not have any reliable source of fresh water once we hit the trail, so bring what you will need for the trip
12. Each vehicle should bring at least one quart of motor oil and one quart of A/T fluid, Collectively, we will have enough if we have a major damage and have to replenish these critical fluids.
Weather forecast as of today Saturday February 4th:
At he higher altitudes we will have the lows in the mid 30"s .....lower altitudes will have the lows in the lower 40's.
Daytime temps in the upper 40's to mid 50's
There is a chance Sunday and Monday for what is called "Dry Lightning" which if we happen to be in narrow canyon, will be both a delight and a terror at the sametime. Personally, A lightning blast and the sound of the thunder rolling through a canyon is a great marvel to behold.
Any Questions/
Let me know,
Thanks, Fred Explorer 1

One other recommendation:
If you have one set rear tire snow chains or cables, bring them.
I do have some sets that may fit your particular tire size so if cant secure a set let me know your size and I will check.
This is not a requirement, however, depending on which roads the Parks service has closed we may need to take some alternative routes that may get into some higher elevations with some residual ice.
Thanks, Fred
