Anza Borrego, second only in popularity to the Mojave Trail!
This is trip where we set a base camp in Blair Valley and then go out daily to trail drive always returning to the beautiful Blair Valley each evening.
While there are some challenging trails, if your did the Mojave Trail before your qualified to take the next step on most of the Anza Borrego trail. The trails will stretch your ability and help you gain experience and confidence.
Since we have a base camp, all rails are optional and I promise not to shame you into doing something your regret (well maybe).
If you cant get time off work your welcome to join us just for the weekend.
Here are a few links to whet your appetite.
Let me know your questions and if you're coming,
Thanks, Fred Explorer 1

Fred,
The congregational meeting is that Sunday so I will only be able to stay Friday and Saturday if the trip is scheduled for the weekend of the 14th to take advantage of MLK holiday. I will most likely go down Thursday afternoon and set camp and wait for every one to arrive on Friday. Michael may join me Thursday evening.

Murrie I too will be going down Thursday afternoon early enough to avoid getting stuck in the traffic. I haven't decided if I'll just drive the XJ down and set up a tent in Blair Valley or pull the XJ behind the Tundra. I'm leaning toward just driving the XJ down. If I do, I will be going the route we usually take in from the back side (Salton Sea side) and I want to take advantage of the Calcite mine trail, (We've done this before) which is just off road S22 before Borrego Springs. (I heard its had some additional wash outs that have made it more of a fun trail.) before I head on over to Blair Valley. Because gas stations are so far from Blair Valley, I think I'll take 1 - 5 gallon gas container. Thanks, Fred Explorer 1

Here are some more details on the Anza Borrego Trip.
So far the following have said they will be going:
Myself in my 90 Jeep XJ Murrie Alcorn in his 93 Jeep ZJ Michael Alcorn in his 2016 Toyota Tacoma Rudi Wiens in his 97 Jeep ZJ
We will be making a base camp in Blair Valley for all nights.
Each day we will travel out to various trails and be gone pretty much the entire day returning to Blair Valley prior to night fall.
I along with Murrie and Michael will be leaving around noon on Thursday Jan 12 arriving in the afternoon at the same camp site we've used all the past years in Blair Valley. On the way out we will do the Calcite mine trail before we arrive at camp.
Rudi Plans of leaving early Friday, 13th, and travel directly to Blair Valley with the intent to be there before 8 am.
Other have expressed an interest in coming but have not confirmed with me yet. If you are going, please communicate on this Thread, so other who are coming perhaps can travel up with you.
Breakfasts will be in camp along with a campfire each morning. Sunday breakfast will be our traditional "big Breakfast" so bring whatever you want to prepare on the grill.
All lunches will be on the trail so make them simple.
Dinners will be in camp with a campfire.
As to weather, there is a chance of some rain both Saturday and Sunday. This will not prevent us from going out on the trails and actually will add a nice element. However, if it rains in camp you should be prepared to either wait it out in your car or tent, or perhaps some one will bring a easy up where we can gather under.
Each vehicle should bring at least one box of firewood.
Any questions???
Thanks, Fred Explorer 1
