Dates are official now, they are Friday August 13 leaving and returning either Friday or Saturday the 20th or 21st. (Sunday may be an option in the event things don't go according to schedule) We will be acting as support for Mary Saucy and whom ever comes along which right now may be only Bodie Garside. The bikers will be following approx 200 miles of the Colorado trail (single track) from Spring Creek Pass on Hwy 149 to Junction Creek campground just north of Durango. In the beginning the bikers trail pretty much follows the Continental Divide up to Stoney Pass ( Southeast of Silverton) where they will leave the trail and travel on dirt roads to Silverton. From Silverton they will travel south on pavement to Molas Pass ( Hwy 550) and again travel on dirt traveling south until Junction Creek Campground. Roughly figuring 5 days on the trail. The Support team will travel various highways, country road, and trails to some predetermined junctions with the Colorado Trail to meet the bikers, set camp and enjoy stories of both their and our adventures. 4WD will be required, no extreme sections that I can recall, but as always, my memory and determine of what qualifies as a difficult trail can be in question. All welcome including spouses and older kids. There can possibly be long hours on the trail so this isn't for those wanting a "leisurely" dirt road trip. When in doubt contact me for more information. Thanks, Fred Explorer 1

All,
I will plan our dinners for 6. With only three vehicles, none being a truck we will need to plan really well. I figure dinners for dates 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, and 20. That's 8 dinners. Please let me know of any foods that should not come if you really do not like them, like broccoli, I will not be brining that. I will coordinate with Fred on buying the fresh food stuffs in Colorado. For frozen food stuffs I will be getting that here and placing in a cooler with dry ice. I will have two Yeti type coolers and Fred will have his refrigerator. Do not know if Rudy will be bringing Fred's older refrigerator.
I will bring my cooking gear so you should only need to bring your plates and utensils. I am sure Fred will be bringing some of his cooking pot for his veggies and Dutch oven for ?.
I may need help cooking some nights and every night for clean up.
Getting excited! Murrie

I may need help cooking some nights and every night for clean up. Getting excited! Murrie Sorry Murrie, I should have got in touch with you earlier as to meal planning. As in past trips, Breakfast, Lunch, drinks, deserts and snacks are the individuals responsibility. Murrie will be planning and preparing dinners only . Also, the following dinners will Not be prepared by Murrie. Friday (13th) Saturday 14th Sunday (15th) Murrie will be responsible for meals while on the MTB portion of the trip which should start Monday. SO Murrie will be preparing dinners: Monday - Friday. Dinner in route back upon completion of the MTB portion ( Sat & Sunday) will be the individuals responsibility. Keep in mind that we will be traveling some area's I'm not very familiar with and we might be able to stop for some individual meals as a restaurant or fast food establishment, so make your individual meals ones that are easy to fix and ones that can be shifted to another day. Our schedule must be kept flexible as I will adjust it based on our progress each day. I will write up an additional post outlining more or less our schedule, so watch for that. Thanks, Fred Explorer 1

Fred, Will we be buying food when we get to Colorado? Murrie Because the group meals won't start for a few days, I think it would be best to wait to buy all "fresh" foods for the group until we get closer to the trailhead for the bikers. This will be a pleasant break for all and allow less to carry as we do some fun trails at the beginning. Don't let me forget this as we travel as it would be more cost effective to buy this fresh food in a town that has more than just one small general market. With that said, we WILL need to pre-purchase our meals for the first few days on the trail as individuals. Thanks, Fred
