As far as I know, it’s every year. First weekend in December. December 4-6. Fred?

Yep, I can almost do it with my eyes shut, For many it's the only time they can get out.
It will be the 4th, 5th and 6th of December.
I may mix in some additional exploring to add a little spice to the trip.
We can only take 7 vehicles in my group, so it's a first come, first serve for my group.
So let me know if your coming.
I will most likely leave the group on the way back in Barstow and head for the "Oaks" Sunday afternoon. Anyone wanting to spend another night out is welcome to come along and then come home Monday after the traffic dies down in the morning.
Thanks, Fred Explorer 1

Hi Fred, My wife and I have this trip on our calendar. And am really looking forward to it. Haven’t been out there for a few years. We’ll meet up with the group in Barstow or at Avi.

Count me in for Mojave Road. I may bring my friend who’s into large caliber compressed air rifles. Kind of like Lewis and Clark on their Corp of discovery adventures.

Hey, since some of you are planning one coming out on this trip and I haven't seen you in quite a while I figured I needed to update you on how trips that I organize and lead are handled as far as what has been called "social distancing" and "mask" or "face shield" protection either for yourself or others on the trip.
All my trip could be labeled "social distancing" and "mask protection" free.
If you are not comfortable with this, I understand some of you may not want to come with the lack of apparent safety in place . It's completely up to you, to come and enjoy some of the freedoms which are harder to do in the city, or stay home or for that matter do your own trip on the Mojave Road if you want.
I do not support any making fun of or mocking those who would rather not come upon knowing this.
As a point of information, both Mina and I have already contracted the Covid-19 virus in early July. We were sick with rather mid flu symptoms for a couple of days. We were tested and are "certified" as really having the sickness.
I have been solicited by the State of California to donate my blood as a treatment to "cure" and/or help those sick with the Covid-19 virus. I can post the letter or send it to any of you interested in seeing it.
Each of us have our own level of comfort when it comes to risk. The fact that your willing to go off the pavement and into the "wilderness" for a few days would put you in the category as a person comfortable with the a higher level of risk. Some would consider the trips I take in my vehicle, on foot and in my canoe reckless.
I'm grateful for this freedom to do what others may consider fool hardy, careless and reckless.
If your goal is to "stay safe", I wouldn't think you'd be out on the Mojave road in the first place.
Let me know if you changed you mind in coming either on this Thread or in a PM.
Thanks, Fred Explorer 1

Update:
In keeping with my prior idea of adding some additional exploring to this trip I will be doing the following:
First off if any of you don't want to take this different route, you are welcome to follow the traditional route to our first night camping spot where we will meet you.
I will be traveling out Interstate 15 toward Las Vegas where I will exit just past The Mountain Pass unto Nipton Rd ( In Nevada Hwy 164). I will travel east on Nipton Rd. through the old remains of Nipton. Shortly thereafter, I will exit unto dirt continuing to travel east over the Crescent Peak mountains. At the junction on some maps, which is called YKL Ranch Rd., we will turn south toward the old abandon Hart Mine and the nearby abandoned community of Hart. This was a major gold mine operation in the early 1900's. There is suppose to be a large open pit mine there for a bit of exploring. After any exploring, we will continue to head southerly through any number of dirt roads to the New York Rd. ( Not to be confused with the New York Mountain rd.) Eventually, the road will end near the intersection of the Ivanpah Rd and the New York Mountain Rd. From here we will travel west to our campsite in the New Your Mountains where we have stayed the last couple of years.
With this change of venue I will be traveling some new roads to me, so there may be some back tracking and but in general as we travel south/west any road will take us to Inanpah rd once we leave Nipton. I do not anticipate any difficult rock crawling or muddy sections so all vehicles and driving skill levels should be able to come along.
We will be filling our fuel tanks in Baker and then again toping them off at the Interstate 15 and Cima Road exit. While I think this will give us enough gas for the remainder of the trip, I will be carrying a 5 gallon can of extra gas on my vehicle.
Those going up with me Friday morning, we will be leaving the Ralphs parking lot at the corner of Colima and Whittier at 5 am sharp. I will be monitoring 147.555 on the 2 meter and my cell # is 562-547-5577.
I'm not sure we'll be able to dine out for breakfast on the drive so best to bring something to keep your stomach happy in case we don't stop.
I just need a confirmation on who is going up with me Saturday morning so I know to look for you.
Thanks, Fred Explorer 1
