This Sunday, Oct 18th is an open invitation to come pick some apples at the Oaks.
The El Dorado fire was stopped south of Hwy 38 and all our building and trees were saved.
I have a commercial juicer if you want to make your own Juice/Cider so if you come and want to do this be sure to bring your own juice container to take home with you.
Bring your own pic-nic lunch chairs, blanket or what ever you want to sit on.
If you want to play in the river bring your won towel and water sandals.
Parking next to our orchard is limited so we might need to shuttle some f you from the parking area next to our entrance fence and gate by 7 Oaks Rd.
If you need instructions on how to get there let me or Mina know.
As an added bonus on the drive up you'll get to see some of the damage done by the El Dorado Fire.
Let me know if your coming as we are also inviting our fellowship group, here is the info Mina sent to then which would also apply to you, Thanks:
Dear Apple lovers:
First a short list of what to bring:
a lunch, drinks, lawn chairs, or blanket to picnic on, bug hats, sun hats or spray, bags/boxes for fruit, Water sandals, towel, camera, clippers to cut fruit.
Welcome to our Oaks Orchard: Here are some instructions.
1) Bring boxes or bags for fruit collection. There are a variety of apples: You will find a wooden post at the bottom of each tree (hard to read but they are marked.) Apple types and uses.
2) Take what you can use, and use what you take. As you pick you may come across apples that aren’t perfect. Please don’t drop them on the ground– these can be used for making juice. Collect them and take to the juicing station.
3) When you pick apples please spin them off their stem off or use clippers so branches don’t break. Fred also has a technique he would be happy to show you.
4) Bathroom is found inside the A-frame Green house. The light is outside the door on the right. We are on a septic tank system: please go easy on the TP use.
5) On the west side of us we have a friendly neighbor but please respect their property line.
6) If you would like to see the river or any other part of the property be aware that our land is uneven. Walk with care and be aware that we are in a region that can have rattlesnakes but no one we know has been bitten.
7) Feel free to gather acorns or pinecones.
8) At some point (Maybe 1:30?) We are happy to show you around the place.
9) If you are into pure water, you can bring your own container to take natural spring water from our spring which has been certified. The analysis says it exceeds all municipal water companies for clarity and purity. It is naturally high in Magnesium and calcium.
We have limited parking so please call us if you get to the gate, and its locked. Fred’s cell is 562 547-5577. Mina’s is 562 547-9340
Thanks,
Fred
