Some have asked and are concerned about the El Dorado fire and our property we call "the Oaks" in the San Bernardino Mountains. We'll the fire hasn't reached our property yet, but it is getting closer. Defense lines are being set up and prepared by the fire fighters. Right now their main concern is the community of Angelus Oaks which is uphill from our property and about 2-3 miles straight line away. Good defense lines have been prepared around this community to save it. Also, Hwy 38, up the side of the mountain from our property, is also considered a defense line to try and stop the fire there and is lined with fire fighters and their equipment. We’re watching the reports and maps daily. We’re leaving on a combination off road/Canoe trip next Tuesday. Will be gone 2 weeks. A lot can happen in two weeks in a fire. I told Mina I want to enjoy the trip with her and would rather not check fire status while away. My attitude is, what will be, will be, especially when I have no control. Maybe the fire will get stopped, maybe it will go by our place leaving it alone, maybe we’ll have a bunch of baked apples. Thanks and if I know of anything for sure one way or another, I'll pass it on to you. Our place is just above the "Pinezanita" name in the top center of this map. Fred
