Fred,
I checked out the videos Jason took and they're about as good as you'd expect a 10 year old to do. I can send them to you if you want, but they might make you feel motion sickness....

Jim Jim, I'll let you decide if any of them are good enough to use. If so and they aren't too big you can send them to my e-mail at: ftaylor@parkvilleinsurance.com Thanks, Fred

I think I'll save everyone from the motion sickness. And the videos make things look simple and less dangerous. It looks like we're basically just going down hill.

Mud Puddle
It was my first experience with 4 Wheel Friends, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. But what I was thinking as I was driving through that mud puddle cautiously is that you can tell a lot about a run leader who encourages his group to drive at high speeds through a dirty pool of water splashing cold mud up into a hot engine compartment, inudating his entire car with slime, and temporarily blinding the driver. (BTW, wasn’t it that very behavior that caused Fernando to roll his rig in the end demolishing it and beating him up physically?) I guess different people have different levels of respect for their rigs and their lives. With the mandatory car counting, turn reporting, gear control, etc., I wan’t surprised to learn that 5 out of 6 of your “followers” abandoned the run before its conclusion—good excuses or courteous, yet suspicious, ones. Don’t worry, I won’t be asking to come on any more of your runs even though I really enjoyed meeting your “followers”. They were all really a bunch of nice guys!

Bruce,
No harm intended, Some of us are more cautious than others and have more experience dealing with the clean up from too much mud and splashing.
Who knows, maybe you were the smart one! Jim Frei, our former "senior" attender would always go through the mud and water slower, he also had to spend the least amount of time cleaning his vehicle at the end of a trip.
I have room for all kinds.
Interesting enough, Ferns accident came after he left the group Tuesday to head home due to the anxiety his wife was having over the virus scare. He was on dry dirt and wasn't going too fast. Mike was ahead of him and drove through without issue. A BLM ranger came by right after it happened and said for some reason they regularly have accidents at this place in the road. Has something to do with the "S" curve and the off camber.
We're just glad it made it through this without physical harm. I didn't find out about the whole thing until Friday when we came back into cell service. By then he had already towed the vehicle home and had purchased another stock low mileage ZJ to move many of his parts from the damaged one over to. ( Things don't stand too still for Fern)
Either way, I'm glad I got to meet you and am sorry you didn't get to Mollies and Frog Springs point. The guys would have rated this trip as a more difficult one due to all the trail miles on wet sections, the mud and the weather. I'll be posting some pictures of Mollies and Frog Springs point along with Skunk pockets in a later post.
One of the successes of this group is that the guys can both laugh at each other and laugh at themselves.
Again no harm intended, Hope the best for you and your family,
Fred Explorer 1
