With all the news of the wildflower bloom, I'm taking time out to visit two of my more remote favorite places this next Saturday April 13th. All are welcome. 4WD is not necessary but good idea to have a little extra ground clearance in some kind of a SUV. We'll leave early, 6 am, and stop for breakfast along the way. Please bring a picnic lunch. No telling where we will stop for lunch but I plan it to be among the wildflowers, so bring your own blanket and chairs. Do I need to tell you to bring a camera! It looks like it will be a sunny day but be prepared for cooler temps at the higher altitudes. (4000 - 5000 ft). I will be looking at the blooms on the old Ridge Route and the if we decide to move along at Carrizo Plains. The pictures below are of Carrizo Plains April 4th. Let me know if your coming, Thanks, Fred Explorer 1

We have another long-standing commitment for Saturday and can't make this trip.

Some of you have contacted Me or Mina indication that you are coming.
In review, we will leave from the Ralph's Market at the corner of Colima and Whittier Blvd at 6 am sharp.
We'll travel the 60 freeway to interstate 5 north stopping for breakfast the Dennys in Castaic off the Lake Hughes exit.
After Breakfast we'll travel over to the old Ridge Route taking the Hwy 138 exit east toward Palmdale. We'll stop briefly at Quail Lake to use the "facilities" before we head over to the old original "Ridge Route" stopping along the way to read the historical plaques.
We'l look for and enjoy the wildflowers as we find them. If the bloom here is good we'll stay here for lunch (bring your own picnic lunch, blanket, chairs, table) and complete our day allowing for anyone to leave as they feel necessary. If the bloom here is poor we'll head over to Carizzo Plains where we know things are in full bloom.
I'll be monitoring 147.555 on the 2 meter Ham and my cell will be on 562-547-5577
Thanks,
Fred & Mina Explorer 1

On the fence about this trip. Ran into some schedule conflicts. You’ll get a text from me in the morning if I go.
