Neil contacted me and the Grand is acting up again in the stalling area. I think we need to work on the grounds again. Seems that with some time and weather it is stalling more when it wasn't doing it pretty much at all when I took it on the Anza Borrego trip. His daughter Clare isn't comfortable with the shifting pattern with the trans. either.
We might look into what a trans guys would do and charge to get this fixed but if he is asking more than a few hundred bucks we should consider just replacing it. I've found a low mileage auto trans for $595.00. It includes a warranty and free shipping.
Niel is willing to keep it over at his house for a while during construction. Does anyone else want to use it currently. Maybe Matt can ask at his work what they think about the trans.
Thanks, Fred Explorer 1

I think we can source a cheaper transmission on craigslist. I've seen them for around $300. However it would be wise to solve the more immediate problems before moving on.

Agreed,
While the trans shifts a bit late in 1st and second there is no slipping and the shift were crisp and sure. Whatever minor problem it may have I'd like to think it can be fixed easily or we'll live with it until something major happens.
Neil also said he had to replace the battery, said one morning it was completely dead. That happened here once when the dome light got left on with it's funny switches on the dash it could easily be done. No problem, as we all knew they battery was getting order and would eventually need replacing.
Thanks, Fred
