Second only in popularity to the Mojave Road, Anza Borrego is a favorite of many with it's variety of trails.
Let me know if you're coming, or have any questions.
January 25, 26 & 27th.
Thanks, Fred Explorer 1

I'll be coming, possibly a church buddy with a 4Runner. Any logistics yet, since I don't have to drive to Whittier for this trip.

A few details on the upcoming trip. I will be leaving Whittier early, 5 am, from the Ralph's parking lot (corner Whittier Blvd & Colima) on Friday. It's seems to work out best to drive to Anza Borrego and set a base camp from which we venture out to explore and "wheel". Blair Valley has worked out in the past as an idea camping place and we will drive there first Friday, choose out camp spot and then travel out exploring. There is no limit to how many can come and each person has the freedom to stay in camp, come with me or do some exploring on their own. Anza Borrego State park does not allow ground fires so I'll be bringing my old wash tub to have a fire. Depending on how many come we may need more one fire and another wash tub might be needed. Please let me know if your coming via this Forum thread, If I don't know you also tell me what vehicle you will be driving. Trails range from easy to difficult, but the difficult ones are on the more easy side of the scale. Because there isn't any gas stations near out camp you might want to bring an extra 5 gallons of gas, just in case we don't pass a station in our exploring. (this is completely optional) I haven't decided which trails we will take, part of this will depend on who is going. Each vehicle should being one box of clean firewood (no nails) and water enough to meet their need the three days. This is lower desert trip and temps. are generally warmer than the Mojave Road trip. Thanks and let me know if any questions, Fred Explorer 1

Looks like a nice small group, because I've already done just about every trail in the park, I'll leave open my options as to which trails we take based on who actually goes,
Thanks, Fred Explorer 1

ther forecast as of ! week before the trip: Scattered clouds Days - low 70's Nights - high 40"s Sounds like a idea trip! Additional info: We will travel out the 60 freeway and then merge with Interstate 10, then tale Hwy 111 out south past Palm Springs to Salton City, where we will turn west on S22 toward Borrego Springs. Before Borrego Springs we will start our off roading by taking the Calcite Mine trail where Calcite was mined during WWII for the B17 and B24 bombardier aiming sites. After taking this trail we will then take the Lower Coyote Canyon trail which should have some fun water crossings. After this trail we will travel over the Blair Valley to chose our camp site. Each vehicle should bring at least one box of nail free wood. Fires are only allowed in a metal container so I will be bringing my wash tub and grill for our evening cooking and warming fire. Also all drinking and cleaning water as no potable source of water is available on the trail. Figure meals for Friday lunch through Sunday lunch. Sunday morning will be our traditional "big Breakfast". I will be taking my Tacoma, and will either sleep in the bed or set up a tent. All nights will be spent in our base camp in Blair Valley. Any questions, Let me know, Thanks, Fred Explorer 1

I’m finalizing my plans but it’s looking like I’m in as well! Let me know if and when your coming, Thanks, Dad This obstacle can be gone around, But there is room for a JK to go through so there would be enough room for your 4-runner.

I think you'll have a great time on these trails, they will also stretch you a bit and give you some stories to share with your grand kids someday! We'll get by with one tub, Thanks anyway, but you can brings some clean nail free firewood. Thanks, Fred Explorer 1

Where do I meet up with the group on Friday AM, the Calcite Mine trail? If so, what is the ETA for the group at this spot?
