Some of you may remember the Kokopelli Trail trip from Colorado to Utah we did a little over a year ago. If not you can see some of what we did at this link: fourwheelfriends.boards.net/thread/401/kokopelli-trail-historyThe dates have been set for another mountain bike/Off road vehicle trip taking the Black Canyon Trail which is north of Phoenix Arizona. It is being called Koko II. The date including travel time are January 26-30th 2017, That is a Wednesday - Monday. It looks like all the bikers who went on the original Kokopelli trip along with some others are planning on going. We are in need of some support drivers and vehicles who will carry the camping gear, food and water for the bikers and help with the camp set up each evening while the bikers are on the trail. Funds are available to pay for your gas to and from the trip. Unlike the original Kokopelli where much of the trail could be driven by 4wd vehicles, the Koko II is mostly single track so the support vehicle will travel other roads and trail to the designated campsites where we will meet the bikers each evening. I have visited the area and found in my off road books loads of 4wd trail in and near the single track trail the bikers are taking. SO each day after we set up camp for the bikers those who have vehicles with 4wd and want to we will leave camp for own off road adventure. There is an information meeting for all bikers and possible support vehicles at my house Sunday evening November 6th, I think at about 7 pm. Come and find out about it. Let me know of your interest so I can plan enough info. packets. Thanks, Fred Explorer 1

Any chance of having the meeting start earlier given I have a 90 minute drive? Can I Skype in?

Mike Murrie said he going to SKYPE you into the meeting so we'll see you via that. I'm still waiting to see how many bikers are coming so I'll know how many support vehicles we'll need as a minimum. Thanks, Fred

Fred,
Sorry I couldn't make it to the meeting. I'm still planning on going, but I was having the heater core replaced in the WJ, and some work done on the Acura, so I couldn't leave the house. Can you go over some of the stuff you guys discussed at the meeting at shop night?

OK
Just received official word from Mark that there are 11 bikers signed up and deposit paid for the Koko II mountain bike trip January 26-30th 2017. (Thursday - Monday including travel time)
Now it's our part to see if we can get enough support vehicles to carry the bikers, bikes and their camping equipment. (the bikers will supply the bike racks)
The Mountain Bikers will be paying for our gas to and from and in-between the trail and campsites. They will also be paying for the food we fix and consume with them each evening. Our job will be to get them there and back, set camp and do the dinner cooking.
The Koko II trip will be on the Black Canyon mountain Bike trail which runs (roughly) from Prescott to Phoenix Arizona.
The following have told me they are planning on coming: (If I'm incorrect let me know ASAP)
1. Fred in Explorer 3 (the Jeep JK) 2 Murrie in the Smurfmobile (Jeep XJ) 3. Michael Alcorn in his 2014 Toyota Tacoma 4. Roz in the Big Boy Dodge pickup (or the Jeep WJ) 5. Carl in the 1995 Jeep XJ 6. Cody Dunn in the Ford Explorer 7. Rudi Wiens (still waiting confirmation)
Let me know how many passengers you can take, be realistic in that you will need room for heir gear, food and camping supplies.
With 11 bikers I think we're going to need at least 9 vehicles.
Our plan is to do some wheeling in the area after they leave the campsite start on their trail.
If you know of anyone willing to come have them contact me ASAP. If we don't get enough vehicles I'll have to tell Mark he'll need to reduce the number of Bikers.
Let me know.
Thanks, Fred Explorer 1 562-698-3038

Fred,
If we don't get enough vehicles I will take the beast, this way we have plenty of room for bikes and gear. Plus I can seat 5 comfortably including myself. But I would like to take the wj out if we can get enough vehicles.

I got preliminary permission from my wife to go. If I can take the time off work I think I'll come and be the 9th or 10th vehicle. I have a bike rack I could bring, along with extensive bike repair ools and a workstand. I could even bring my bike to act as a spare possibly. I'll confirm for sure by Sunday nights meeting.

Fred,
I just found out from work that they can't give me the days off. Most of the management team will be in Oakland, and they need me to run the shop while they're gone. Sorry but I'm going to have to sit this one out.
