Howdy All,
I was hoping to make reservations to use the lift this Thursday. My front driveshaft decided it wasn't going to play along on my adventures anymore so I have a new one that should be here Thursday. I actually have to switch yokes on both the front axle and the t-case. It's hopefully not going to be a huge job, but I will need to take preload measurements on the front axle before I start.
Fred, if I remember correctly you have an inch pound torque wrench. Can I use it for this project please?
If all goes according to plan, I might also tackle a drag link flip and a raised front track bar bracket on the same night. That requires the drilling of a 7/8'' hole so it's not exactly a walk in the park either.
Anywho, thanks everyone.
Jim

This is what the lift looks like right now, most likely won't be finished by Thursday night. However, I have two lifts, the other is a portable model and will lift your Jeep up to 5 feet, I think this will be enough for what you want to do. And yes I have an inch pound torque wrench available for your use. Thanks, Fred

Fred,
It looks like I'll have to make due with the smaller lift. How early can I show up on Thursday? I'd like to get a head start if possible. I have bad luck and this can easily end up being a large job instead of a relatively simple one.
Thanks again, Jim

This is where I'm at as of now, who knows maybe I'll even had it done by Thursday evening. If I get far enough so that I'm putting it back together and on, are you still gamefully unemployed and available to help me get the lift available Thursday day/ Thanks, Fred Explorer 1

Fred,
I can, but it'll probably be after 1. I need to wait for the UPS guy to deliver my driveshaft before I head over to your house.

I just found a place on the copper air line that rubbed against the ring ear so I guess I'm going to need another Seal Housing.
We'll keep in touch so you'll know if toe come over early.
Thanks, Fred

Sorry to hear about the added problems. I'll keep an eye on the forum, but the most direct form of communication with me is either a phone call, text message or an email.
Thanks again Fred,
Jim

Fred and Jim, I planned on removing my rear axle to make things easier for Fred to weld on it. Now that the lift will definitely not be available (for Jim), Fred has some additional complications, Jim's work seems to be very involved, and my ZJ is not my daily driver, I can forgo getting work done this week.
Jim, I can make myself 100% available to you, if you think I would be of some help to you.
Fred, Veronica will be gone for a few days, so I can come by some other time to do some welding, or wait until next Thursday. I was planning on removing my rear axle completely. I think this will make the prepping, welding, grinding and painting so much easier and quicker. I can remove it and put it up on the high jack stands for you to weld. Let me know your thoughts on that. by the way, where can I get that paint that can be brushed on? I would like to do that if the axle is off. Or should I paint it green? hahaha
I will await your replies.

Fernando,
Thanks for the offer to help out. If all goes according to plan, and I forgo the planned steering changes, I think I can get the Jeep out in an hour to an hour and a half. That might leave enough time for us to get the rear end out of your rig as well. My biggest fear is with the front pinion yoke. I have bad luck, so I need to prepare for Murphy's visit.
I'll see y'all on Thursday!

Another 30 minutes or so to prep it for Fred to weld. How early are you planning on being there? I can be there as early as needed. I have Lunch appointment downtown and I can come home after that. Let me know.

Back in place, now to reinstall everything: By the way Jim, do you have your own 7/8th drill bit, we might be able to use the small mill if we could figure out a jig top attach it securely to the table. thanks, fred explorer 1
