We will leave Friday March 18th and will plan on being back before Sunday March 27th, but just wanted to put that return date in case something would happen that would delay us from the planned schedule.
We will be exploring Canyonlands National Park on the west side of the Green River. A rather remote section, rarely visited. We will start our on dirt adventure in Green River Utah, off of Interstate 70. We'll be heading south from Green River and will return back to pavement north of Hite.
I am going to make an e-mail list of those going so all information and planning will take place apart from this forum.
Those thinking about going need to firm up their decision and let me know on this Thread along with their email.
We are about 5 weeks away so it's tie to get our vehicles in shape and ready for this extended adventure.
Let me know if your coming.
Thanks, Fred Explorer 1

I'm planning to go but probably not the full trip. I'll plan an early exit that makes sense.

May have some things that might not be comfortable for some. Mina's not going either. Thanks, and hope you can still make it, Fred Explorer 1

Understood. I'll pass on this trip, then. All's good. I want to do some camping with Jennelle, we haven't been out in the wilds together since before the COVID lockdown.

As it turns out I'm just going to be able to come for 5 days... maybe 6. I'll have to try to figure out a meetup either at Camp on Sunday night the 20th or somewhere the next day. This is caused by my copilot's wife. I told her "if we get lost in the maze district and don't die, it will make us stronger." She didn't reply.

Matt, You should come for the first 5 or 6 days as I'm not at all sure where we'll be camping as we go and I'm not sure of any quality cell service in the wilderness. Would that work for you? Well that was certainly my thought Fred. As it turns out we can get 6 days but can't leave until Sunday am. I've done some research and since you have to have reservations to camp I can know where you will be and connect likely. Of equal or more concern is that the backcountry 4x or MTB campsites seem to all be limited to 3 vehicles and 9 people.

I haven't made any reservations as of yet and may choose to camp outside the "park" so as to limit some of the restriction as to where we camp and what we can do when we camp (fires). I will know more once I talk with them. Thanks, Fred

The Canyonlands park folk are hard to talk to unless you have a number I couldn't find. They have a lot of info in a big phone menu, then tell you to email if you have other questions. canyinfo@nps.gov
I ordered two sets of peerless chains through Walmart for $102.95 per set. If you have a better set of chains that you no longer need. I may want to buy them and send these back. The prices for new chains that are the extra strong, extra grippy type designed for off-road range from $200 to $800 per set. They definitely look better but my pockets aren't that deep.
