Team, As I get familiar with this form of communication (message boards), I just sent an email to Explorer 1 and Murrie. The gist of it is below.... incase this is a better way to use the board... Gentlemen,
Jeorge and I are working on the menu for two of the three nights. We can also do breakfast on Sunday??
We are planning for 10 people, as follows:
Fred
Murrie
Greg
Bodi
Peter
Jeorge
Wes
..Plus 3
Let me know if we are on track for head count and if we should do Sunday breakfast?
Enjoy every day!
Wes
PS: Fred, I hope you are feeling better!

Thanks Wes for the communication.
I am still getting better, After the initial 2 days of the sickness I made a rather unusual recovery, no more fever or body aches. My energy is returning and I still have an occasional dry cough. No congestion but I'm still a bit tired in the afternoons.
With that said, I am still waiting to see where Mina comes out on this. When we tested she came out negative, but has started showing some very minor symptoms of possibly coming down with this. If she does, I want to stay home, unless she comes through with even a more remarkable recovery than I had. She is a tough gal and is Blood Type O which I have heard may have some advantages with this sickness.
If I chose to stay home, don't let this rain on your "Parade", I still say go for it but take the route in from Bishop instead of Big Pine as I'm not sure you guys know the Big Pine route. You won't be going to the Cottonwood Canyon in the White Mountains for the same reason, but Coyote Flats is such a nice place it merits a couple of day stay.
I'll keep you posted as to how we're doing here.
As for the list of those going, some of them are news to me.
I was told Greg Jenkins was coming and bring his son Jack, but as for the others, news to me.
Thanks, Fred Explorer 1

Fred,
I know I am planning on going. I was just tested again for COVID on my doctor's advice and hope to have the results in before Thursday. Even if i test positive it would be 14 days since my exposure to you that Thursday night and my doctor feels it would be ok for me to go as long I am not showing any symptoms.
Micheal is also waiting on my results it seems. If we go up through Bishop Bodie should be able to go. If you do go and Bodie still wants to go up I will do the Bishop route meeting up with Roz if he goes also.
If you do not go I would like to meet with you to get the other trails around Coyote Flats as my map show the roads up to the camp site from Bishop and Big Pine but no others. If Roz and Bodie do not go then I would like to take the Big Pine trail even if you can not come.
When is Mina's test results due?
My understanding of the participants:
Fred - Maybe Murrie - Positive Micheal - Maybe Wes - Posititve Jeorge - Positive Peter - Positive Greg - Positive Bodie - Maybe Roz - Maybe'
If Mike and I go then we are thinking of going up Thursday and camping Thursday night. The operative word is "thinking".
Wes,
I count eight potential participants. Planning for 10 seems the prudent thing but I would make the cut off for planning next Tuesday. I will come by Wednesday evening to pick up some of your gear since Peter will be riding with you.
Murrie

No food allergies for me, just an aversion to camping staples like okra, brussel sprouts, mustard greens, cooked cabbage, liver of any kind.
May Day Mike (Betterlookintwin).

Murrie,
It looks like Mina has it but her symptoms are so minor and limited that you wouldn't know. She is type O blood which from what I hear have it effect them less.
I'm preparing the vehicle to go, but will reserve decision up to the morning of the trip, Sorry but that's just the way it is.
I am planning on leaving the Ralphs parking lat at 5 am Friday morning. I want to avoid traffic, if that possible. We'll travel over Colima and take the 60 to 57, 57 to 10, 10 to 15 and over the Cajon Pass to 395 north. I'll fuel up in Big Pine and then proceed to the trail up from there.
I'll text you the night before and the morning of to give you the final outcome
Thanks, Fred Explorer 1

If your coming you'll need to bring some "nail free" fire wood, We might be able to gather some along the way but it's usually of pieces of add size and difficult to carry.
The evenings and night promise to cool and a bit cold so a morning and evening fire will be a delight. Nice change from what we've been living through here
Don't forget to bring some Tylenol and IB provin in case you get any altitude sickness for those pesky head aches. We'll be camping over 10,000' elevation.

Hello Gentlemen, I’m planning to meet Friday 5:00 at Ralph’s and Jack (son) will be riding with me. Questions: 1) How cold will it be at elevation? 2) Fred, is firewood available at your place or should I just buy 2 bundles? 3) Have we firmed up the menu and which meals are being prepared for the group? And who do we pay? 4) will need directions if Fred ops out More later I’m sure, Greg

And who do we pay? 4) will need directions if Fred ops out More later I’m sure, Greg Greg, I'm off the the Oaks the afternoon and Mina is coming along. We need to operate the irrigation system so our orchard gets plenty of water during this warm growing season. We'll be coming back tomorrow before lunch. Mina says she has Covid AKA CCP Flu, lite. All her symptoms are in accordance with this flu but in a milder form. All systems are are a go for me going. According to the "experts" , I pass into the "no longer contagious" zone Thursday, so does anyone want a hug? You and only you are welcome to come by and pick up one box of hardwood. We still need some of you guys to bring the usual pine and other softwood to get the fire started as hardwood is a real bear to start a fire with. I'll be back home tomorrow (Wednesday) afternoon. If any of you want to pick up a lot of fire wood for the this trip and future strip, best to come on up to the oaks and I'll let you split a cord or two. As for the weather, it's going to be hot in the Owens valley and at the beginning of our climb out of Big Pine, but altitude has it advantage as we will be in nice cooler weather up the mountain. Expect lower 40's at night, both at Coyote Flats and Cottonwood Canyon. Cool in the mornings and very pleasant during the day. Thanks, Fred Explorer 1 AKA Immune man ( new super hero identity)

Don't feel bad Mike, I didn't figure you would make it all along.
Thanks for confirming it. Maybe after the election you be able to make a trip, that is unless the world comes to an end.

Well at this point with all the last minute changes I know Greg is coming with his son Jack, I haven't heard any further from Wes, if he is coming and if he's bringing anyone.
I'll be at the Ralphs parking lot at about 4:45 am Friday leaving at 5 am sharp for Big Pine.
Thanks, Fred Explorer 1

OK so it looks like 3 vehicles and 6 brave souls.
The Starbucks across the street from Ralph's opens at 4:30 am Friday morning, I'll be filling up before I go.
Thanks, Fred Explorer 1
